Takes part in Workshop in July in Switzerland
My working situation:
Since some 30 years I am working in the area of development in East and West Africa, Asia and at SDC headquarter. I have also a large experiences in PMET&Controlling/steering issues mostly developed as I used to be regional adviser In PMET in Nepal, Vietnam, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
I am sharing the SDC Country Director Pakistan position in job sharing model with Kaethy Schneitter. In addition to the home affairs, I am looking after Natural Resource Management, Governance, Livelihood, Poverty, Gender, donors’ harmonisation and Conflict management. The challenges we face to is to finalised and implement the new Cooperation Strategy Pakistan 2006-2010 focussing on Poverty, Rural development (including micro-finance, skills and market development), Governance and Human Rights in the North-West Frontier Province.

My challenge for the workshop:
To exchange, learn, discuss practices and approaches on how to deal with the poverty-employment-gender nexus in rural – and peri urban –areas, in a fragile and degrading environment, how to support a gender equity access to skill training and financial services for employment and self-employment. The questions of ownership, sustainability and monitoring & evaluation are also a concern..

My contribution:
Besides my overall experience, I can expose one or two SDRA related projects, e.g. Shubinak and/or Farm Forestry Project.

My topical interests:
1 - Organizing Demand and Supply of Trainings
2 - Working on gender mechanisms
3 - Launching and monitoring
