My working situation:
Since some 25 years I am working in the
area of development for various institutions in Latin-America,
Africa, Asia and Europe and at SDC Headquarters. Since more than five
years I am working for Skill Development within SDC’s thematic
Division: Employment and Income.
My challenge for the workshop:
I am facing three main challenges. First
of all, as SDC owner of the present SDRA debate and organiser of the
workshop, I will link SDC’s conceptual stand on SDRA with the
discussions. I will link the discussions to SDC’s mid term strategy
2003-2007 in the area of employment and income in general and skill
development in particular. Secondly, as outgoing thematic responsible
for SDRA, I will use the opportunity of the workshop to link my actual
and future colleagues of the Employment and Income Division: namely
Jean-Christophe Favre, Ruth Huber, Fabienne Lagier, Juliane Ineichen,
Peter Tschumi and Lukas Ruettiman to some participants with whom we are
working together. Thirdly, whenever my other duties allow I will
participate actively in the one or other debate.
My contribution:
First of all, I will try to explain
SDC’s actual thematic stand on SDRA and Skill Development as integral
part of Employment and Income generation. Secondly out of my general
overview on SDC’s activities in the area of skill development in rural
areas, I will bring in the one or other complementary practical example
not covered by other participants and try to sensitize on thematic
linkages between different experiences.
My topical interests:
Beside of the fact that I am curious to
follow discussions on all proposed topics, I am particularly interested
in the issues of launching and steering of SDRA Programmes,
respectively on capacity development.
